Acacia Literary Agency represents African authors and publishers with regard to their intellectual property.

Acacia Literary Agency offers non-fiction works from Africa only to all publishers worldwide.

Acacia Literary Agency exclusively represents manuscripts and their authors in the fields of non-fiction and academic works, as well as thought-provoking texts at the intersections of politics, sociology, cultural studies, philosophy, aesthetics, and art theory.

Acacia Literary Agency has a broad international network of publishers, academic reviewers, and — when needed — partner agencies.

Petra Hardt and Tobias Klaus have known each other for decades through the book industry. Tobias Klaus is a researcher who has spent many years working in African academic and artistic contexts. In numerous discussions with African colleagues, they lamented the lack of publication opportunities. Petra Hardt has decades of experience in international licensing. Against this backdrop, we had many discussions that led to the idea of setting up a literary agency. We have chosen 2025 as the year to realise this project by establishing Acacia Literary Agency. Drawing on our shared interests and skills, we provide comprehensive support to our authors in their writing work. We assist with the conception of individual or group projects and negotiate publishing contracts.

We are proud to announce that we started to work with Claire Nalukenge from Uganda and Abdelrahiem Ibrahim from Sudan.
